This position is in Global Support Services Department of Red Hat Software Service (I) Pvt. Ltd., Pune.

Position Description:

The position is for “Trainee” – Associate Technical Support Engineer, in Global Support Services department of Red Hat, Pune.  The selected candidates will go through in-house / on the job training on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and related technologies like Virtualization, Storage, Clustering, Cloud, Satellite etc.

This is a 6 months contract position.  Those candidates who successfully complete the six month training will be considered for a full time position as Associate Technical Support Engineer subject to availability of vacancy at that time.

Position Requirements :

Freshers with B.Tech/ B.E (CS/IT)/MCA/MCM/BSc/BCA, 2010/2011 passed out batch with 60% and above in Graduation and with RHCE are eligible.

1. Understanding of Linux/Unix and Open Source.
2. Theoretical knowledge of networking, UNIX-like services and concepts.
3. Good analytical and reasoning skills.
4. Very good command over English Communication (Written and Oral).
5. Self motivated and directed, with keen attention to details.
6. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
7. Incorporating findings in Red Hat’s knowledge base.
8. Should be comfortable working in Shifts & handle phone calls when ever required.

Preference would be given for candidates those have done their final year project on Linux.

Selection Procedure ;

2. English skill test.
3. Group Discussion.
4. Personal interview.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Providing technical support via help desk & live chat.
• Monitoring servers for stability and taking proactive measures to correct issues.
• Provisioning of new orders
• Assisting clients in transferring accounts to our servers.
• Working on Common website apps, like Drupal, WordPress, MediaWiki, Magento, etc

Technical Requirements:

• Knowledge of the linux operating system
• Must be familiar (not an expert) with Apache, PHP, MySQL, Unix shell (bash), email (POP3/IMAP/SMTP), FTP, DNS and other standard web hosting applications and protocols.
• Knowledge of PHP & MySQL
• Knowledge of virtualization systems (Xen, OpenVZ)

Extra Bonus: 

• Experience with WebsitePanel & Cpanel
• Experience with documenting procedures
• Can write PHP or Ruby on Rails applications (we have some internal projects going on)
• Certifications (RHCE/CCNA/MCSE)
• Experience with Windows Server Management
